Spi-Frame Press™ 6000 provides a photovoltaic production frame with the capability to install edge sealant and frames on module laminates. The frame perimeter consists of four frame members and four corner keys that are pressed together using joystick hydraulic controls. The frame provides the means for mounting the laminated solar cells and protects the glass edges from the hazards of the environment.
The laminate rests on a rotating vacuum table that allows an operator to apply sealant, such as foam tape or silicone, to the module edges without changing position. The table rotates 360° and a pneumatically controlled brake locks the rotation when sealant is applied to each side of the module.
A venturi vacuum pump provides vacuum to four large vacuum cups to clamp the module securely to the rotating table during sealing. The table lifts up for sealing and lowers for pressing. The vacuum turns off for pressing to allow free movement of the laminate and frame.
Compressed air provides power for the table lift, the table brake, and the venturi vacuum pump. A hydraulic pump and two self-aligning cylinders press the frame between a push bar and a rigid back stop.
