IonGuard® is Spire’s proprietary approach for reducing polyethylene and metallic wear debris through the direct ion beam treatment of articulating cobalt-chromium and titanium orthopedic devices. The IonGuard process reduces wear by creating a hard, low friction, hydrophilic surface on the metallic device.
