What We Do

Spire Biomedical has been a leader in medical device material enhancements for over 20 years. Spire's customized surface treatments improve the performance of orthopedic and cardiovascular devices, enhancing such properties as wear resistance, infection resistance and thromboresistance. In addition, Spire’s surface engineering enhances tissue and bone growth, provides conductive pathways, improves radiopacity, and provides improvement of other performance characteristics. Spire-treated products include orthopedic prostheses, catheters, guide wires, ENT devices, stents, and other specialty medical devices.

Surface Treatment Technologies

Spire’s advanced surface modification technologies include Ion Implantation and Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) to improve the surface characteristics and the performance of medical devices. Spire uses advanced, custom-designed equipment, and has extensive experience treating production quantities of medical devices. More»
