Reduces the potential for air embolism, vessel trauma, and excess bleeding
Designed to facilitate insertion of both the Pourchez XpressO® and Pourchez RetrO® catheters, the SafeTrac® Dual Wire Insertion kit eliminates a Peel-Away sheath dilator and reduces the potential risk of air embolism, excess bleeding and vessel trauma due to sheath dilator insertion.
Single wire insertion techniques, can provide less control, especially for patients with excessive scarring due to previous catheter insertions1. The dual wire SafeTrac technique combines stiff yet flexible intracatheter dilators for more control and soft silicone catheter material to minimize vessel trauma and bleeding. This is particularly useful for subclavian and femoral insertions where the technique allows the catheter to successfully follow tortuous pathways into the right atrium for maximum catheter performance. SafeTrac® also utilizes the catheter as the final dilator, creating a tight insertion and exit site.
Upon insertion, the XpressO® and RetrO® catheters are twisted clockwise and counterclockwise to form a tapered configuration, which eases the catheter through the soft tissue and into the vein.
SafeTrac is available in four sizes (24cm, 28cm, 32cm, 36cm) for the Pourchez XpressO. One size SafeTrac fits all Pourchez RetrO catheters (52 cm). Each kit contains a 6Fr sheath dilator, 14Fr dilator, 16Fr dilator, two 5Fr intracatheter dilators and two J-straight 0.038 guidewires.
