Senior Solar Cell Scientist

A Ph.D. – level (EE, Physics, Material Science) semiconductor-device – oriented scientist or engineer is sought to perform the following tasks at an external –customer –oriented III-V foundry:

• Design epitaxial structures for a wide variety of III-V optoelectronic (solar cells, LEDs lasers, etc.) and microwave devices to meet customer specifications
• Evaluate electrochemical CV, X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence, reflectance, and Hall data to confirm epistructure quality
• Design microfabrication processes needed for a wide variety of III-V and silicon–based device such as solar cells LEDs, lasers etc.
• Layout photo-mask sets in LEDIT, AutoCAD, or similar software suitable to make devices to customer spec based on designed epi and process
• Write detailed microfabrication process instructions to turn epiwafers into finished die
• Evaluate contact resistance test patterns, surface profilometry, ellipsometry, and reflectance data to confirm process quality
• Help design experiments and development new epitaxial growth and fabrication processes as needed for customers
• Help set up and use PIV, CV, quantum efficiency, spectrometer, and other specialized test stations to evaluate die and confirm quality
• Write customer reports and interact with customers as needed, including limited travel (less than 5%)
• Write competitive research proposals for government Small Business Innovative Research grants and other programs.
