Senior Accountant
Position Summary: Prepare month end/quarter and journal entries; perform analytical review of balance sheet and income statement trends; review inventory and overhead cost along with assisting with SEC Reporting and revenue recognition.
Detailed Job Description:
- General Ledger
- Review general ledger distributions for accuracy
- Prepare monthly journal entries and post to financial statements
- Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control
- Prepare monthly financial reports with balance sheet and income statement analytics
- Provide support with ad-hoc tasks, projects and processes
- Prepare and review analysis on an monthly basis supporting all balance sheet accounts
- Ensure accuracy of cut offs of A/R, A/P labor, inventory and receiving
- Oversee month end close for A/P
- Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions
- Monitor and review accounting and related systems reports to accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and review budget, review expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents
- Prepare quarterly analysis of divisional financial statements, including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash reconciliation, and overhead accounts
- Assist with the compilation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings
- Identify system improvements to enhance finance and accounting efficiency
- Research current GAAP, FASB and IASB pronouncements
- Interact with external auditors in completing audits
- Ensure SOX processes are adhered to
- Contracts
- Monitor contract spending (funding, labor hours, etc.)
- Assist with Governmental audits on contracts
- Inventory
- Quarterly review of all standard costs in raw stock
- Monthly review of cycle count activity
- Audit quarterly test of WIP floor and stockroom materials
- Track and compare inventory results with general ledger balances
- Prepare all reporting requirements for the bank
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3-5 years general ledger accounting or public accounting experience
- Experience with Solomon/FRX Reporting or similar accounting software in a Manufacturing Environment
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Understanding of GAAP and IFRS
- Ability to work independently, be a self starter and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment while maintaining close attention to detail
- Able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously with keen understanding of deadlines
- Must be a real "team player" with a "can-do" attitude and a solutions oriented personality
